Join us at MILL – Makers in Little Lisbon for a free hands-on collaborative session with Alex Yang!
January 28th, 7pm (WEST) at MILL! Register HERE.
Perform the Internet!
What is the internet? How does your meme make it from your phone to your friend’s laptop on the other side of the world?
It takes so much to send that little message of yours. Submarine cables, electromagnetic waves, data centres, satellites, maths, science, engineering, protocols — all of it and more!
In this session of Perform the Internet, we will explore THE WHOLE INTERNET. Just kidding. We literally can’t. The internet is so big, lol. Instead, in this collaborative (with you!) session, we will take your curiosity and run with it.
We will also use art to explore the internet and our understanding of its different aspects, including its materiality.
Requirements
You don’t need to know anything about the internet and stuff to join. We can tell you a bit about it. If we don’t know something, we’ll look it up.
The organisers will provide workshop materials (whiteboard & markers, paper, pen, pencil, eraser, crayon, paint, and more), but feel free to bring your own materials, including personal digital devices (laptop or other) or other means through which you would like to express your idea of the Internet.

Who we are:
Alex Yang is a software engineer and creative, based in Sweden. His work has explored hegemony, biohacking, archives of performance art, and prehistoric homo sapien identity. In recent years, he has developed inquiries into internet infrastructures, probability and statistics. His choice of media has been both material and digital, sometimes mud and microscope slides, but mostly code. He enjoys using collaborative workshops to bring people together and to tease out their combined subjectivities.
Palácio das Belas Artes Lisboa (PdBA Lisboa) is an artistic-curatorial project that, through its online platform, holds exhibitions, public meetings, workshops, and artistic residencies, both in Lisbon and internationally.
This activity is part of the PdBA Lisboa’s 2026 programme Invisible Infrastructures. Follow us to receive updates on all further programme activities!
